Long walk September 4th led by Bill O’Kelly

10  walkers set off to walk along part of the Chess Valley Walk which is a waymarked trail along the River Chess. A chalk stream and very clear – throughout most of the walk.We started at the Cock Inn, Sarratt and walked down from there to join the trail, After a very short detour to Latimer for a coffee break on the village green –  a very attractive setting – we passed the imposing Latimer House and there were excellent views of the river from here.

Heading on to Chesham railway station we caught the tube for a short train ride to Chorleywood. Some of our walkers were quite excited about this. From the station we walked across the common and through the Chorleywood Estate to rejoin the trail and then back up the hill to the Cock Inn where we chose our meals and had our promptly served meals on our own table in the  medieval style barn restaurant.

Strollers September 9th  led by Elizabeth Rouse

A group of 12 (plus one well behaved dog) met up in Wendover after a wild night weather-wise but by the time we met all was calm.  We walked through Wendover and along the Wendover Arm of the canal, crossed fields to Church End and then back to the canal.  We had lots of stops as the walk was approaching 5 miles long but was completely flat with no stiles so we all managed OK.  Most went into Whitewaters in the High Street afterwards for tea and cakes, etc. which made the outing very sociable for a couple of new walkers.

Medium walk September 20th led by John Stallwood

13 of us met at 9.45 at the Full Moon in cholesbury. The weather was dry but very grey with lots of cloud. We set off across fields, through woods, then more fields and up a hill where we had a short rest and admired where we had just come from. Later we stopped for a coffee break at St Mary’s church, then refreshed we carried on downhill on tracks through woods to finally reach Cholesbury Iron age camp. From there we detoured to St Lawrence church before walking back to the pub for lunch. A great walk, only 5 miles with just one hill!
