Long Walk March 4th led by Bill O’Kelly
We had a 7 mile circular walk around Chalfont St Giles, starting and finishing in the village. It was mostly level though designated pathways or across grassland. Fairly muddy, but the particular time the walk took place followed a lot of rainfall in the Chilterns and indeed throughout the UK. The most notable aspect was the large number of horses and paddocks we went past – and in one very muddy case we had to walk through one paddock rather than alongside. We lost count of the actual numbers of horses spotted. Most of them seemed to be pretty immobile.
We had a coffee stop at the green in Jordans near the village shop and finished with a meal at the White Hart inn.
Strollers March 9th led by Gillian Siggers
10 strollers met in Monks Risborough on a dry, partly sunny morning for a circular walk to Askett along the road (to avoid the mud), then over fields towards Kimble, but turning away to cross the main road and to take a footpath leading towards Cadsden road. We crossed the road to walk to Whiteleaf village, then down across fields back to Monks Risborough.
Medium March 20th led by Angela & Martin Kent
Angela & Martin led a 6.5 mile circular undulating walk from Frieth, taking in Skirmett, Turville, Fingest and back up to Frieth for lunch at the Fir Tree pub. A very good walk and a good pub.
