Jeff Evans gave a fascinating talk on sport on TV beginning in the 30s at the BBC. He went on to show how the reporting and presentation of sport improved when ITV started. The BBC had to up their game or rapidly lose viewers. His talk brought back a lot of memories of TV in the early days.

It was an interesting insight particularly to learn that ‘sports’ such as marbles was considered for TV at one time. Jeff appeared to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of his subject.

Unfortunately, the number of those attending was quite small, maybe because of the Open Day the following day or because it’s holiday season. We really don’t want the numbers falling off to the point where the monthly meeting is not viable.
