At our August monthly meeting Dr Ellis gave us a fascinating talk on how memories are made and forgotten. Did you know that the average brain weighs an average of 3 pounds, contains 8.6 billion neurons and uses a massive 20% of our energy?

Jim took us through how memories are made, how we have different types of memory for events and situations, things we do instinctively and the things we individually learn. He even included an optional memory test before explaining the reasons we forget. He closed his talk with the hopeful thought that given the right trigger we can recall most things.
