The weather was forecast to be sunny and although it was cloudy when we started out, the sun broke through in the afternoon to give us a glorious day visiting Sezincote in the Cotswold followed by a visit to our close neighbour, Waterperry Gardens. Sezincote was remarkable with the wonderful Indian architecture of the main house, orangery and surrounding buildings, the paradise garden and the truly lovely ravine garden with its stream, ponds and fabulous trees. The tour round the house gave us an insight into the history of the estate and its owners from the 18th century to the present day and especially the restoration and exquisite refurbishment by the Kleinwort family. After tea and delicious cakes in the Orangery, we boarded the coach and headed for the rest of the afternoon at Waterperry Gardens. Always lovely at this time of the year, the herbaceous borders at Waterperry never fail to impress, especially the famous long border with its Michaelmas daises, rudbeckias and many other late Summer and early Autumn flowers. After lots of retail therapy and even more tea and cake, we made the short journey back to Princes Risborough after a superb day with fittingly perfect Indian Summer weather.
