What a great day out we had when we visited Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland, voted the Best Garden to Visit in the UK and originally home to the late BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, Geoffrey Hamilton. We wandered around the 38 unique, small-themed gardens linked by landscaped borders, gaining inspiration from these little masterpieces of design such as an Artisan’s Cottage Garden, a Town Garden, an ornamental Kitchen Garden, an amazing vegetable garden and many more. There was something for everyone and we could only marvel at the different ways of making a garden with planting to give interest and colour in all types and sizes of plot. An excellent tea room provided great food and we indulged in some retail therapy in the plant nursery and gift shop to round off a really lovely day.
