The story is based in Duneen, a village in rural Ireland and revolves around PJ, the local Policeman, and the series of secrets that unravel following the discovery of a body on a building site. We felt that the book was well written and very good for a first novel. The description of Duneen gives a very clear image of a claustrophobic village and PJ’s character is very clear and solid and the book left scope for future stories around his life after this story ends.
We felt that the book wasn’t rambling or boring, that there was no excess copy or preamble and that the story held the reader.
We gave the book a marking of 8 out of 10.
