Wednesday March 6th Long walk led by Bill O’Kelly
13 Walkers plus 1 crazy dog met at the Red Lion in Little Missenden on a dry, sunny though a little cold day. After giving our lunch orders we set off at 9.30am to walk gently uphill over fields and along muddy tracks to reach and cross the main road at Beaumont End into Penn Wood and on to reach Penn Street. We walked along the common then took a path to reach and pass the church continuing on through the wood to emerge near Mop End. After crossing the busy main road again we took a path through woods then gently downhill over fields to reach the cricket club at Shardeloes. Here we turned left to walk along side the lake which had many wild fowl on it and then along the Misbourne back to Little Missenden and the pub for lunch. We had a large table reserved for us and our ore-ordered food was served very quickly and efficiently by the friendly bar staff. A lovely walk, gently undulating but no real hills or stiles – and a very good pub.
Monday March 11th stroll led by Caroline Jones
The March Strollers walk took us to Wendover on a walk was planned to avoid mud and stiles. 12 strollers met at the Cricket Club car park. From there we walked across the park following the footpath to the church. We then strolled up Church Lane and down Hale Road. We then followed the canal path spotting a number of water birds on the way. The most interesting being a beautiful white egret. We made the return to Wendover village via the park, Aylesbury Road and Dobbins Lane. All returned safely and relatively mud free.
Friday March 15th medium walk led by John Stallwood
Starting at the Dashwood Roadhouse at Piddington, a 5.9 mile walk via Bullocks Farm, Wheeler End , Cadmore End Common, Cadmore End, back down through Leygrove Wood, and all way back to pub. There were 11 off us altogether, a great walk with good views varied scenery but a little bit muddy, but nobody moaned too much and the weather was dry nearly all the way.
