Gardening Group meeting March 18th
Our March meeting was the final one in our season of Winter talks. A large number of members (84!) were treated to a really masterful talk, ‘The Year-Round Container Gardener’ by Chris Day of Buckingham Nurseries. A wonderful comprehensive talk explaining how best to grow plants in containers, the best location, the best plants for difficult sites, the best compost and how to keep a container planted throughout the year. We had lots of tips and advice, lots of anecdotes from his extensive career in horticulture, a demonstration of how to plant a bulb lasagne and much more. Chris brought with him a very large selection of plants suitable for containers and, after giving his talk, had hardly any time to drink his cup of tea whilst dealing with a host of questions and people buying his lovely plants. A really great afternoon with an expert horticulturist.
