Some of you may know of the Snooker Club & Literary Institute building, situated halfway up the right side of Risborough High Street. This is home to the Risborough Snooker Club. I am a current member and at the latest Snooker Club Committee meeting I put forward the proposal that a number of Risborough U3A members might be interested in forming a U3A Snooker Group using the main snooker table room during off-peak periods (typically 10.00 am to 2.00 pm).The Snooker Club Committee have responded enthusiastically to this suggestion and it is now my task to gauge the interest for such a group amongst U3A members. Once we know how many U3A members would consider joining such a group we will arrange for those interested to go along to the Snooker Building to see the facilities on offer, and to enjoy an open discussion on what might be possible, answering any questions that you may have. Following this session I will check to see who is still interested and conclude discussions with the Snooker Club.A number of things to mention:~ the table can be used for billiards or snooker~ men and women are equally welcome to join~ beginners are welcome~ some tuition can be providedThe idea is to enjoy the activity within a social atmosphere, in the same spirit that we can enjoy table tennis or golf. Unlike golf we don’t need decent weather to play!I look forward to hearing from those who want to attend the discussion group session.
