40 members of the Gardening Group arrived at Wisley after an hour’s trouble-free, coach journey.  Even though the weather forecast was not promising, we all set off in different directions determined to enjoy the superb Autumn displays in these wonderful gardens.  Many people had not been to Wisley for a number of years and were amazed at the changes that had been made, especially the new Welcome Centre, plant centre and shop and the magnificent Hilltop Horticultural Centre. The herbaceous borders were still looking good and the prairie and heather beds were superb.  The alpine house was brimming with delicate, miniature flowers and the tropical area in the glasshouses was warm, steamy and particularly colourful. Lots of places to eat and rest and an excellent shop and plant centre enabled those who wanted some retail therapy to browse and buy.  At 3.30pm, we boarded the coach with the forecasted rain just beginning to fall and arrived back in Risboro’ at 4.45 pm after enjoying a lovely Autumn visit to these beautiful gardens.
