It was the Spring equinox and we were treated to a great talk by Paul Patton, horticultural consultant, plant pathologist, writer and broadcaster, who began his talk ‘Wonderful Healthy Herbs’ with some pictures of beautiful Spring flowers in his garden. Paul’s talk ranged though so many plant-related topics including plants used for colour, perfume, medicine and cooking. Other subjects were herb gardens, plant communication, diseases and how to defend plants against them, soil health, plant nutrition. So many topics were covered in 45 minutes we were racing to keep up! Paul illustrated his talk with a wealth of superb pictures and ended with a short fun quiz in which members competed for prizes of fibre plant pots. A really good talk enjoyed by another large attendance.
