We had a wonderful meeting of many of your group leaders last week and it is really encouraging to know that there are so many people still doing so much to get things up and running for you again as soon as possible. Please keep your eye on the website for what is to come.
During the meeting we discussed Covid safety. We, as an organisation, cannot be held responsible for your personal safety. We are asking you to take care of yourselves, if you feel that it will not be safe for you to attend a meeting, please, don’t go. We cannot impose rules on you but we hope that, in respect for your fellow members, you will not attend a meeting if you think you may be suffering from Covid, that you are double vaccinated and that you observe appropriate sanitisation and social thoughtfulness at all times.
A date to make sure you put in your diary is for the Annual General Meeting of our u3a. This will take place in person on Tuesday 12th October at 2:00 p.m. at the Longwick Village Hall. This is situated at the end of The Green, a small road opposite the village shop in Longwick. For sat nav use HP27 9QY or, for the tech savvy, use the what three words app ///takeovers.stung.robes and it will take you virtually to the front door, where there is plenty of free parking.
MUGS – one of the concerns about Covid is around the provision of refreshments. We will be offering tea and coffee and cakes at the AGM. However, an issue that had raised its head prior to Covid is even more relevant now. For Covid safety and ecological reasons, please bring your own mug with you to meetings. Thermal mugs with lids are so easily obtained within the town and I know that, as a u3a member, you are eligible for a discount at some of the shops on the high street if you show your membership details. Do this for your own safety, for our work load and financial impact, but, most of all, for the environment.
We are going to need as many of you as possible to attend as, because of changes to how we operate as a charity as a result of Covid, we are having to review our constitution and will need at least 60 of you in attendance to vote in favour of the changes. All the information about the AGM, reports and voting information for the constitutional changes and the new committee members will be emailed out to you within the next few weeks.
We look forward to seeing as many of you at any of the meetings that are now up and running, at the AGM or just out on the High Street.
