Christmas celebrations – vegetarian buffet
As we have done for the last few years now the Food & Wine group ended the year with a themed buffet, this year’s choice being vegetarian food from around the world.
Members were able to choose from a selection of starters, mains and desserts with wines and soft drinks to accompany them. It was a celebration with a little sadness thrown in as it was Eileen’s final meeting as group leader, having decided to stand down after more than five years in the job. Unknown to Eileen and Geoff the group had organised a collection to show their appreciation and Elaine presented them with a wonderful food hamper and a “Thank You” card signed by all.
Unfortunately nobody has come forward to take over as group leader and there is a possibility that this could have been our final meeting. However Michael George has kindly volunteered to act as group administrator, with responsibility for finances and room bookings, provided that others can be found to plan and run meetings.
