GUIDANCE
- Give the Event a name, this does not have to be the name of the interest group. Be creative
- Turn on Divi and create the structure you wish to use (sections; probably one, rows, probably one or two and modules; probably text and image.
In the content area use this space to explain the details about the event. In some cases this may be a few words, in others it might contain a form and other important information if it is a trip. The Event needs to be the container of all information relating to the event. - Add a start time/ date and end time/ date.
- If it is a series of events use the event series dialogue boxes to define how many repeats there are
- Set the location from the existing list of locations. If it is a new one create it. Optionally show the map or map link
- Set the organiser from the existing list of organisers. Or create a new one. Make sure you include the contact details for the organiser
- Event Website: only use this if there is an external website that refers to the event.
- Event cost: add a cost in and set the £ symbol in the box.
- Excerpt: If you wish to control what is seen in the summary of the event, you can rewrite a summary in here. It will be used in the summary display of the event visible before someone opens it.
- Event Categories: Locate and tick the categories that apply to this event. For most events it will be just one. Day trips and holidays are an exception. These have two, the primary interest group, the Trip-Event category.
- Go to the bottom right of the screen and look for featured image. This is optional, but you could have a unique image per Event Post, or a different one for each.
- Lastly don’t forget to delete the SECTION (Blue); GUIDANCE TEXT SECTION- DELETE THIS BEFORE PUBLISHING
Always check your layout by viewing it before moving on to the next item.
Things not to do:
Avoid Sticky Posts, Featured event and hide from listiings. These are special functions you do not need.
Things you can do:
Under Publish immediately you can set a future date, so the event will not be visible until that time.
