A coachload of 50 members arrived in good time at Hampton Court Palace and after being dropped off close to the entrance, we all went our different ways to enjoy the day. The weather was sunny and dry and not too hot, perfect for walking round the Palace and gardens. The Tudor and Georgian parts of the Palace were wonderful as were the gardens in their midsummer magnificence. Beautiful herbaceous borders, lovely rose beds and more formal gardens reflected the different styles of previous and current centuries. A visit to the great vine was a must and some of us ventured on to the horse drawn carriage ride or got lost in the famous maze. A lovely day with lots to do and see and although we had a rather hot and long return journey on the M25, we arrived back in Risborough by 5.30pm having enjoyed a “grand day out”.
