Bridge
The Bridge Group restarted on 13th October 2022 as a social / contract bridge group for members to play and enjoy bridge rather than as a specific competitive environment. The aim of the group is for everyone, novice to expert, to enjoy bridge. To that end, there are no structured lessons, nor are there strict routines. A basic rule for the group – there is no “bridge jargon”. If you are a “expert” player, we want you to come prepared to encourage and share your knowledge with others, at a patient and understanding rate. If you are a total beginner, you can be confident that you will get support and encouragement from your fellow group members.

More about this group
The group meets in the Carrington Room from 1:30, expecting to finish by 4:30. Tea and coffee will be available to help yourselves throughout the afternoon, although we ask you to bring your own mugs with you (we don’t want anyone to have to be washing up).
The idea is to have fun, help those that want to learn and enjoy the fantastic game of bridge. If you have never played before but wish to learn then those who can play will, we are sure, be happy to help. This means:
No bidding boxes.
No specified bidding conventions (unless agreed beforehand)
Scoring for fun – and learning for those that do not already know.
No duplicate hands – each table would have two packs of cards so shuffle and deal as appropriate.
The charge is £4 per session. If the kitty has excess funds then the charge is reduced for a period of time. The idea is to keep the cost as low as possible.
If you are interested or would like more information please email bridge@risboroughu3a.org.uk or contact Stephen Cooper. We look forward to seeing you.
