You may want to back your piece of fabric with a piece of fine cotton or some interfacing to give a firmer surface to stitch on. The fabric you choose can be coloured or not and just bring what threads you have. \nA selection of threads will be available as well and if you have a stitch book you way want to bring that too. If you prefer to frame your fabric then do bring an embroidery hoop with you as well. \nCome along for an afternoon of creative stitching. \n£3 for covering room hire and refreshments.

DESCRIPTION:We will take a look at ‘Kantha’ stitching. \nThis is a technique from India\, where poverty has led to the development of a \nsophisticated method of layering up worn fabrics to create a new textile. Layers of \ndhotis or saris are sewn together with a white thread using a running stitch. Motifs are \noutlined with a black thread and filled in with colour. \nPlease bring a sewing kit\, a piece of fabric to stitch on and a small selection of embroidery threads. \n£3 for covering room hire and refreshments.
