Michael George showed the first half of a DVD showing the 25th anniversary performance of “The Phantom of the Opera” which had been recorded live from the Royal Festival Hall. The second half was shown at the February meeting.
Michael George showed the second half of a DVD showing the 25th anniversary performance of “The Phantom of the Opera” recorded live in the Royal Festival Hall. At the conclusion of the performance the current cast were joined by past members gathered to celebrate this event.
Dick Darke talked about the rise in popularity of band stands following one built by Prince Albert in Kensington Gardens which encouraged many towns to have their own. Their popularity waned when many were dismantled so the iron could be used for the war effort.
